Yeovil Town to be a tougher challenge, says Carlisle United boss
Carlisle United boss Rob Elliot expects Yeovil Town to be a tougher proposition than they were last season. The Blues head to Huish Park this weekend hoping to get off the mark in the National League at the second attempt.
Yeovil bolstered their squad in the summer with a number of key signings, one of whom is the ex-Carlisle defender Archie Davies. Also in the Glovers ranks is defender Ben Radcliffe, who worked under Elliot at Gateshead and Crawley Town, with the likes of Zain Westbrooke and Slavi Spasov among the other arrivals at the Somerset club.
Elliot's Gateshead defeated Billy Rowley's side 2-1 in March but the new Carlisle boss feels the Glovers will have improved since then. "They've signed some really good players – players that I know and have worked with, players that have been here," he said. "And I think they've recruited good, young players and they've also recruited players of experience at this level.
What comes next?
The Glovers are currently 15th in the National League, with 1 point from 1 game, and are 2 points behind leaders Harrogate Town. They face Solihull Moors away on February 20, 2027.
Yeovil Town's summer signings
Yeovil Town have bolstered their squad in the summer with a number of key signings. One of the new arrivals is ex-Carlisle defender Archie Davies, who has joined the Glovers from Carlisle United. Davies is a talented young defender who has already made a name for himself in the National League.
Carlisle United's expectations
Carlisle United boss Rob Elliot expects Yeovil Town to be a tougher challenge this season. Elliot feels that the Glovers will have improved since last season and will be a more formidable opponent. He also expects the Glovers to be more aggressive in their approach, with a greater emphasis on pressing and quick counter-attacks.
