Yeovil Town Manager Urges Patience Ahead of National League Opener
Yeovil Town manager Billy Rowley has admitted it might be six to nine months until the team really sees the top gear ahead of the National League opener against Scunthorpe United. The Glovers start the season off the back of a summer rebuild, which has seen 15 new signings arrive at Huish Park and 10 players depart. Yeovil travel to Scunthorpe looking to end a run of five games without a win against the Iron, with their last victory at Glanford Park coming back in 2012.
Why Patience is Key for Yeovil Town
Despite the optimism surrounding the club, Rowley believes supporters may need to be patient as his new-look squad continues to gel. "I think there's a lot of excitement around the team and the club at the moment," he said. "I'm still sitting from my seat thinking this is a two-year project."
What Comes Next for Yeovil Town?
The improved squad has left the Yeovil boss with some difficult decisions ahead of the opening weekend. "We've got serious talent and one or two will have to be left out of the squad which is gut-wrenching as a management team," Rowley said. "I haven't decided on the squad yet; we've got a rough idea of it."
Next Fixture: vs Worthing (away, 2027-02-17) (23rd in the table)
The Glovers get their season underway this Saturday with Rowley wanting his side to go and "imprint" their style and bring three points back to Somerset. "I'm looking forward to it," he said. "Andy's (Andy Butler, Scunthorpe manager) done a great job with them, and I know what they're about, they're a really difficult team to play against."
Yeovil Town's Season Ahead
The Glovers will face tough opposition in the National League, but Rowley is confident that his side can make a strong start to the season. "We want to finish as high as possible this year, we want to win every game," he added. "We're going to Scunthorpe to try and win the game."
