Yeovil Town have signed striker Slavi Spasov on a two-year deal from Southend for an undisclosed fee. The Bulgarian forward arrives as the Glosters look to improve on last season’s 16th-place finish in the National League, where they shipped 68 goals and finished 57 points behind runaway leaders York.
What does Spasov bring to Yeovil Town?
Spasov arrives with National League pedigree, having scored seven goals in 27 games for Southend last season. He joined the Shrimpers in January 2025 and helped them lift the FA Trophy while also reaching the play-off semi-finals. At 27, he brings experience of front-line pressure and a proven goal threat in England’s fifth tier.
How does he fit Yeovil’s plans?
Yeovil’s attack struggled for consistency last term, managing just 48 goals across 46 games. Spasov’s arrival gives manager Mark Cooper another option up top, especially after the club released ten players including top scorer Josh Sims. His link-up play and hold-up ability could add a new dimension to Yeovil’s direct style under the new campaign.
What’s next for the Glovers?
Yeovil kick off the new National League season with a squad overhaul. Alongside Spasov, the club has already added defenders Archie Davies from Carlisle and Jordan Norville-Williams from Dorking Wanderers. Loick Ayina has joined on loan from Salford City, while Jack Kingdon arrives from Cardiff City. The reshuffle follows a poor run of form, with Yeovil losing four of their last five matches, including a heavy 4-1 defeat at home to Solihull Moors on April 25, 2026.
League standing (final 2025 table - new season not yet under way): 16th in National League, 51 pts, 15W-6D-25L from 46 games, recent form LLDLW.
